Exploring Tarot: Knight of Cups
The Prince of the Chariot of the Waves. The Knight of Cups sits atop his horse holding a chalice in his right hand. He's dressed in battle attire, however, the visor on his helmet is up, signaling the battle has ended. Wings are visible on both his right boot and his helmet symbolizing his imagination. A stream winds through the land below him and although it's not represented on the card, his horse appears to be walking toward something, a village perhaps. If so, the Knight, by holding out his chalice, may be offering his help or support.
The Knight of Cups is romantic and chivalrous, and when he appears in a reading, he may represent someone who arrives in the querent's life to assist in some compassionate way. Or he could indicate qualities that the querent either possesses or can work toward expressing to others.
When the King of Cups appears reversed in a reading, it suggests someone who is dishonest, selfish, or lazy.
